Down hill shots

Sierra Reloading manual has one but they are easy to compute. Basic geometry using cosine tables out of your kids text books. Use approximate angle up or down and measured distance to target and plug into formula:

usable ballistic distance= cosine angle x measured distance.

For all intents and purposes, moderate range hunting applications) distances need to be beyond 300 yds. and/or angles more than 30-40 deg. before things get way out of wack. If it's long range precision that's a differnt story. See Sierra reoading manual for more info.

What he said :)

You basically shoot the horizontal distance regardless of the angle, up or down. BUT...you allow for wind drift based upon the actual distance that the bullet is in flight.

Following is a link to a free ballistic calculator. Not exactly a chart but I guess you could make a chart using the calculations.

Good luck,

ANGLE SHOTS??
I have a hand held Ipod with a program in it.I all so have a range finder with angle's in it and this is a big help shooting 500-1200 yards, range finder only works to 900 yards.I get the range, input that in the rifle program, click to go and I get the clicks I need for that shot.simple as 1 2 3. Of course" I put into the Ipod program, alt, temp, brom, wind, ect.
I shoot a F class rifle at steel at these ranges, plate is 36 inch long 18 inch wide, Dead deer, with a cold bore
A chart is nice and a little faster, but" it can't hold all the condition's so" I carry both in hunting season. good luck

bulletshooter whats that ipod prog called? sounds handy i have mine in my ear almost the whole time at the range anyways

The Mildot Master is a tool that used no batteries and can be carried into the field. It will correct for up hill and down hill angles. http://www.mildot.com/

It primary use is to convert observed targets that have been "mil'd" into distances, but the slope correction feature works. It even has a way of measuring the slope manually.

Good Tool!

George

If you want to take the time to read it, there is a very good article over on LRH about this topic.
