Dowling-Built 6BR - Insanity

Just wanted to give a public shutout to Dan Dowling for building me an amazing rifle...a Nesika J with bolt to accommodate 6BR and PPC on benchrest stock. It's my "squirrel" popping rig, and I keep group testing it about every 500 rounds...after 6,500 rounds the 6BR barrel is still a 1/4" shooter. Last weekend at the range, fired 3 terrific groups...66gr match-bullets .185", 58 v-max .26" and 55 BlitzKing .21"...as I recall. I am astonished, and gratefull!!!. Also a testament to the accuracy and longevity of the 6BR (I should also mention that all my loads are HOT, pushing the varmint bullets 3,790 on average with a short barrel). At this rate, I'd have to imagine I'll get 8,000+ rounds before groups exceed my personal accuracy tolerance (about .4") and I need to re-barrel. Lousy thing is...I'm in lead-free zone now, and I guess I'll have to re-barrel to a 12" twist regardless so I can stabilize the Nosler Lead-free 55s...I sure hope they fly good.

Also, I've only shot one registered NBRSA match (young father with too little time), but this gun did take the 200 and grand agg in the HV class. 6PPC barrel of course, but the 6BR has always grouped nearly as good. Thanks Dan!

I hear Dan chambers up a real good Dasher, too.

He's been a good smith to me, to name a few chamberings he's done for me: 25/06Imp., .284 Win., 6 Dasher, and 22-250Imp.

My buddies have quite a few other chamberings that have shot very well too.

If you ever want to get a reaction out of him ask him to chamber up a Ruger No.1. ;D My friend did, and now its an ongoing joke.

Brilliant riflesmith and a great contributor to the sport, for sure.

BTW did you get an accuracy lizard?

Ahh...I'd love to chamber up a 25-06Imp for these small cal deer...I have a buddy with one that I load for, and it's perfect. Some day...

Okay, tomorrow I will see if I can figure out how to post pics of my gun and the aforementioned target from my last session...looking at the target, my groups were even better than I thought. Thanks!
