dove decoys on wire

Kinda off topic again, but what the hay. I mentioned loving to "crush" doves.. well, yesterday we hunted crows and shot 3 crows with brown feathers. Really rare. Have a look at this picture of inside the blind.. the Kent "Fast Lead" really does the job. Hammers 'em no pun intended.. ( see the hammer?)
and the 2nd pic of the three rare birds.. It was a great day..

When I lived in Georgia, I had a house with acreage about 35 miles south of Atlanta. It was 1800 feet from the town road to my house, so I had a lot of lines to hang decoys on. I wanted them to sit on top of the wire, so I fabricated some with an inverted "V" of wire where the feet would go, and little weights on the ends of the wires. I could hang them with a pole and they sat up on the wire just fine. To get them down, I just had to flip them over with the pole and they'd fall off the line.

I sometimes invited an old boy they called "Horsehead" to come over and hunt with me. He would set up a folding metal chair right under my phone/power lines and sit there with an unplugged Remington 1100 automatic. When a dove came over it was "boom-boom-boom-boom-boom". Then my wife would come to the front door and holler that the phone was out again. The phone company finally offered to bury all 1800 feet of line to my house 'cause they were tired of coming out. I said "fine", as long as you leave the old lines up so I have something to hang my decoys on. They said "no problem".

One day I was hunting by myself and left the decoys up when I went in for lunch. I heard "boom, boom" and looked out to see my near-sighted friend Steve tearing off over the hill in his truck. I went up there and found the decoys on the ground full of holes.

Another time, I found the source of the mysterious "thrumming noise" that some people claim is due to nefarious government experiments. I had my dove stool right under a telephone pole and leaned back so my head touched the pole. There was that noise! It sounded like a train idling in the distance. The wind was blowing across those taught electric lines and the noise trainsmitted down through the pole. I could hear it in my bedroom on windy nights because the electric line attached to the house right outside. This explanation is too mundane for the conspiracy theorists though.
