Douglas Barrel are they any good

I am looking at a gun that is pretty much what I am looking for but its built using a Douglas match barrel. I am unsure about Douglas barrels I have always used Hart and Krieger. what do you guys think of the quality of Douglas barrels? should I pass on it or is it worth a try?

Mickey Coleman uses them in his riflesmithing business, and that's a worthy endorsement. If your builder wants to use a particular barrel, I think it's well worth considering, as the builder is less likely to point the finger at a bad barrel that's not of his choosing. :)

Douglas makes excellent barrels. They are button rifled as are Shilen and Hart, but both of those companies hand lap their premium barrels, Douglas doesn't. It will take longer to break in the Douglas, but there is no reason it won't be as accurate as any other premium barrel.

I have a custom P17 Enfield 7mm Mag that has a 7 contour Douglas 1-10" CM. My first time out with some load work ups it shot a 0.378" 5 shot group at 100 yds off a bad rest. I have not done any further development after that.

Was shooting Nosler 160 gr Accubonds with 59.0 gr H4831, WLRM primers, and Winchester brass.

i just rebarreled one of my ar-15s from a hart tube to a douglas. they both shot extremely well!! can go wrong with a douglas

One of my best shooting XP-100's chambered in .284 Winchester takes a deer or two ever year with it's 16" Douglas barrel....

I've had several Douglas barrels and would not hesitate to buy another. I also have Kreigers, Harts and Pac-Nor barrels.

I used Douglas barrels for years, currently have a CrMo double button air gauge barrel on my 22-250, and it's a shooter. They do take a little bit to break in, but are accurate out of the box.

A Douglas barrel is well made, tends to be accurate if fed good amunition, and is a good value. As they are not hand laped, they do foul somewhat more than a hand laped barrel, but hunting rifle barrel they are an excellent choice.

Douglas barrels are good. More importantly is the gunsmith that is fitting the barrel for you.

An improperly mounted or chambered barrel regardless of manufacturer will leave you wanting.
