Don’t Like Kydex Holsters — Opinions?

Safari Land leather suede lined holsters from the 70's. Told you guys I was a dinosaur now maybe you will believe me.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

PS: Roamed many of hay fields with my Model 27 strapped to my hip in search of ghogs back in the 70's and 80's. A heavy thick 2" belt makes it easier if you like a hip holster. Cross draw worked best for me for hunting applications. However, if I had to face Johnny Ringo, I would prefer a strong side lower riding holster without the keeper strap.

My personal preference is a horsehide IWB. Horsehide will offer great protection to your pistol and, if the right section of hide is used, will retain a stiff mouth, so the holster doesn’t collapse when you draw. We have a custom leather shop and build lots of holsters. This is the one Ive carried every day for the last few years. Super comfortable to wear. The sweat guard covers all the sharp-pointies from the soft-fluffies.

The ubiquitous model 27, they were comfortable to shoot and carry. They would digest 357 mag rounds, any of the 38 special loads that you could find. Took very little effort to have a great trigger. Fun to hunt with an 8 3/8” barrel.

I too am trying to get used to a kydex IWB holster. Just digs in hard when sitting or bending over.
But I just bought a soft holster to try and like it much better as far as being comfortable. I can also use it in my pocket if I want. So far so good, but both have their place and will get used, just the soft one will be my every day go to.

I bought a kydex holster many years ago when they came out. It fit the pistol well, I used it once. Nope not for me, it will be a fabric holster or a back pocket.
