Don't let UPS or USPS affix your FFLs FFL on the outside of the package...

From time to time I have a customer have their UPS or USPS request a copy of my FFL to insure that the recipient at my address is in fact a licensed FFL.

When an FFL sends you a copy of their FFL, "DON'T FRIGGIN GIVE IT TO THEM (UPS or US POSTAL), AND DON'T LET THEM AFFIX IT TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE PACKAGE". They can look at it but that is all. If they would get off their lazy butts they could check it on line with BATF ezchecks.

There is a federal law prohibiting firearms being shipped, and being identified as a firearm on the outside of the package. Also a UPS "TARRIF" (policy) prohibiting firearms being externally identifiable.

Yes, I am pissed because I got a rifle sent to me Friday with my licensed affixed to the outside of the package so as any one could pull it off and make a copy of it.

Don't expect the folks at UPS, FedEx or USPS to have good sense. So use your brain before you ship.

I always put a copy inside the package in case an inspector opens it to inspect a package because it is suspicious.Basically it had a powder smell that set off some alarm.I get a call from the postal inspector and after 2 days of them being incompetent,it was sealed back up the way I sent it. This also happened to me when I sent some boxes of bullets and the same darn thing happened.Since I have had no problems but the lady was mean and nasty.

UPS only should require the package is being sent to an FFL.

Show them the FFL or the ezcheck on the BATF website.

Don't give it to them, don't let them make a copy either.

An FFL sending to another FFL they furnishes a copy of their FFL. "Inside the package".

The US Postal Service has a special form for shipping a Firearm. It is not put in plain view onthe outside of the package.

A copy of an FFL is subject to being used in identity theft.

If it is affixed to theoutside of your package, it says this package contains a firearm, " Steal Me".

I repeat it is against federal law to identify the content of a package as being a firearm.
