Shipping gun to FFL regulations?

I need to send my rifle from TX to PA to have it rechambered. What is the preferred shipper and what problems should I look for? I assume UPS and have a copy of the FFL inside the case? Should I also have a copy of the FFL taped to the outside? Does the FFL copy need to a signed original or could it be signed and faxed? I've never done this so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Signed and faxed with a copy of your drivers license front and back.

if you are a dealer you need to have a copy either with the gun or faxed before you ship . providing this is being shipped to a dealer . you as an individual with no ffl must ship to a dealer or manufacturer. UPS will ship without an ffl on your end if they themselves recognize the ffl as a business .
i can tell you from past dealings with UPS. if they don't think your ffl is a business with store hours walkin times available you'll need an ffl copy . it always is a good idea to include a copy of your drivers license with the firearm.when the firearm is returned it can only be shipped to your current address. i always advise my customers to add a signature request to the box so someone has to sign for it when delivered . hope this helps it is as accurate as UPS and the ATF has informed me to conduct shipping of firearms .
Also as the other post mentioned you can ship long guns through the post office no hand guns or ammo. it would be best to check with them about any required regulations . T.R.

And, contrary to popular belief, you can ship a gun to the state of California in the same fashion ;) :)

The ATF has a FAQ site that answers most of your questions. There is no reason to go with "hearsay" when a minor oversight potentially creates big problems for you. Here is the link for "unlicensed persons":

The rifler's info is correct. I am an FFL and have received many rifles from individuals for transfers. I have found that USPS is a very effective way of shipping.

It's New York State Law that covers the 5 boroughs of New York City and everyone else in the State has to explain "I don't live in the City!"
