Don Stith Passes

I didn't know where to put this so I guessed.

Several months ago I was looking for a benchrest stock for an Anschutz. I tried Don's site several times calling and emailing and received no response. I did not know Don and had never spoken to him.

Last week I received an email from Mark Weady. Mark told me Don had passed away in July. Mark said he has been carving stocks for Don for 25 yrs. Mark evidently did the carving and Don did the finish work. Mark said that Don had given him the business that's how he got my email.

I will probably be ordering a stock from him in the future. The stocks come shaped and inletted but needing the mounting holes drilled and trigger inletted and need finishing. He has some wood on hand and is more than happy to carve a customers wood. He does mostly muzzle loader stocks and if you look at Don's sight you will see some stocks that Mark had carved. You will also see some benchrest stocks of different variety.

Mark asked me to pass on his contact info and he does not have a website yet. I do not know Mark. He is very pleasant to talk to.

I am sorry to hear that, he made a stock for me for the wife's 10-22 when she was shooting with me and some of the BR guys.

So sorry to hear about Don’s passing. I have one of his BR stocks for my Suhl, really nice work. Sympathy to his family.

RIP Don. I received a call last week from Dons neighbor. Don passed and they were helping with stuff. I had left a message back in June. She called me and set up a call from Mark. He did me a maple stock for Remington. It is beautiful. He is great to deal with. AAA rating. Have stock in hand in less then a week. Now that's service.
