Dogtown 22 (.224) 50 grain Spitzer load data needed

Bought some Dogtown bullets (geeze they are small). I would like some suggestions what Load works with these. AR15 and bolt use. Nice price for plinking. Hope they work good. I plan to load with W748

never shot them, I personally would take any published load for Sierra, Hornady etc 50 gr spritzers, load a few in mid charge between min and max, with a jump of .020.

check for pressure etc and ladder from there.

I have run a couple thousand of them through my rock river varmint shooting prairie dogs. They shoot surprisingly well. I use h335.

Run 27.5 to 28g W748 with that bullet & thank me later.
That's the load/bullet that has taken over 7k p-dogs out of 2 of my rigs.
Been running that load for over 30 yrs with just about every 50-53g load.
I seat mine to 2.250" - 2.280" depending on bullet.

Thanks guys for the suggestions.

I will try that 27.5 to 28 load. I cant argue with the price of the bullets. Will try that this weekend.

And thanks to the H335 suggestions. I dont have any but will get some to try. What powder load?

Never start at the top as your rifle may be like mine which is just a Remington and 27-28 grains will blow primers so start low and load one of each grain weight of powder and work up.

BULLET WEIGHT

Starting Loads Maximum Loads

Hodgdon H335 .224" 2.210" 24.0gr 3,166fps 43,000 CUP 26.0gr 3,393fps 51,700 CUP

Data from Hodgdon http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifle

Winchester 748 .224" 2.210" Min load not given (-15% of Max recommended) MAX 26.0 3,200 40,000 CUP

When I research load data (to be restricted under new state department rules) I find a range for 50gr spitzers using W 748 to be 25.1 to 28.3 max.

Hornady is 25.9 to 28.3
Lee 26.0 max
Nosler 27.0 max
Speer 26.5
Sierra 25.1 to 28.5 max
Hodgen 26.0 max
Lyman 26.1 (starting) 29.0 max ( w/50gr jacketed blitz)

Based on these data, I think it looks like 27.0 is hovering around a max for this powder/bullet combo. I plan to look real close to the cases at 26.0 after firing for signs of over pressure.

I loaded a batch each at 25.5 / 26.0 / 26.5 / 27.0 & 27.5

Seated at COL 2.20

Thanks for recommendations. Shot some of the dogtown this past weekend. Had some good groups for .06 cent bullets at 100. I tried to test too many powder loads and different rifles. Got my notes and stuff all mixed up. Next trip I will stick to one rifle and fewer loads to test.

Learning curve. But I was quite pleased with the dogtowns. I am focusing on the less expensive bullets and easier to find powers, before I try loading Varget and 77gr SMK's for my savage target rifle.

If you have any Accurate LT32 or Alliant Reloader 7, I'd try them. Best in several of mine - and my friend's guns.
