I'm starting to think that there must a magnet hidden in me somewhere. I was in our local hardware store that has a sporting goods department in it and since I had to walk through it to get where the nails are and then the next thing I know there's a Stainless Taurus 856 .38 snub nose revolver staring at me.

Now I have been thinking about another snub nose .38 simply because every time I open the safe the S&W .38 bodyguard starts crying that it needs another .38 to keep it company. I almost got away from it until that crafty young man behind the counter set the hook by telling me he would knock another $10 off and that there was also a ammo rebate on the revolver as well, ... I tried really hard to stop myself but my hand was faster than my brain and I was already doing the paperwork before I could stop.

Well I guess that means another day at the range having fun, I think I can force myself to do it. Boy is life rough!

I say this tongue in cheek, but it is actually what I personally would do: If I had an S&W at home, there's no way I would bring home a Taurus. I'd just shoot the S&W more. However, if it had a 3" barrel, I would look at it twice.

Could be your magnetic personality.

In my younger and more affluent days I had this very same affliction. My weakness was S&W Revolvers. I think over the course of 50+ years I have own just about every model and barrel length option offering available up to the mid 90's. If I had kept all of them, I would have some serious money, but I kept selling and trading them off. Incidentally, I regret selling and trading every one of them. :(

These days being on a fixed income, the affliction is cured out of necessity especially when I see the prices they are asking today. Even with inflation, it's difficult to swallow.

PS: That new Ruger Super Wrangler sure looks nice and it's affordable. Will definitely have to close my eyes if I walk by one at the local gun shop.

Josh, you get your Powder and Primers from the Gibson Store?
Nah! Gibson’s is a little shy on powder. They keep a few primers in stock. I stroll thru to look at what they have while I’m buying bolts and such. They usually have some basics for an emergency.
I make a run to Mumme’s in Hondo, every once in a while to see what they have. They’re much better stocked.
I watch the internet sights a lot and grab what I need when it comes in stock. Thanks to the guys here that post on the “Reloading Components in Stock” thread! I buy heavy on those hard to get powders when they show up.

Maybe there's a 12-step support group near you. The first step to healing is admitting there's a problem.

Yup! A good memory helps temper things. Seeing a $1900 price tag on a lever gun that looks nice is a shocker when you remember when they used to be $500! Easy pass.

I dropped some stuff off at a gun show for a buddy with no intention of buying anything. On the way out I spotted a S&W Model 10 snubby, pretty as a speckled pup. 6 years later ( have not shot it) I wonder why I bought it.

I forgot to add, that after the rebate it was $235 out the door with two box's of critical defense on the way included.

Welcome to the club! The one I miss the most was my S&W 52 with 8 magazines and all of the paper work and tools in the old metal reinforced blue box. Didn't sell or trade it. It was stolen from a friend who I had lent it to to try out so he could decide if he wanted to buy one.
