Does anyone make their own 7mm tips anymore?

Just curious if this is a caliber that anyone Swages or makes their own bullet tips? A buddy of mine just picked up a set of Blackmon Dies to do so but we cannot find any info about jackets out there.

Has this ever been a cartridge to make light weight FBHP's?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'tips'. Are you talking about the plastic tips like those used in Nosler Ballistic Tips?

I think he is actually referring to the projectile itself.

I would love to have a wire tap on that conversation-- "you know your tips... to the bullets... that are jacketed..."
"Our What Sir? That Are What Again?"
"Tips DAMN IT!!!! THE POINTY THINGS THAT LEAVE FROM THE FRONT OF THE BARREL!!!! WELL, SOMETIMES THEY GET STUCK IN IT TOO... BUT USUALLY THEY LEAVE IT!!!"

That would be a priceless conversation to hear actually... Once we get the nomenclature worked out I think this individual can be helped.

However, I don't know if he is ready for creating his own method for jacketing a projectile. Usually you have to hold some serious tolerances to make a really good jacketed bullet. J4 Jacket's are really concentric.... It can be done but would it be cost effective for the home bullet maker to do so?

I have some 7mm bullet jackets that I could part with. If you would like to talk with me, maybe I could help you out.

My name is Bob Cauterucio and you can reach me around 3 to 4 pm Pacific Time on 650-583-1550. Your friend has very good bullet swaging dies.

I've been making bullets since 1954. So I do have some experience in that field.

I have a question do you still make Custom 30cal VLD's in the 168-190grain grain range for the general public to purchase?

Don't make 30 cal vld's. Only make 200 & 211 gr 30's. My die is patterned like the Sierra
Matchking bullet. I do make a 155 & 165gr with a long BT like the Sierra. They shoot very well out of a 308 win with 29" barrel out to a thousand yards. I only ship to U.S. addresses.

I don't have a web page. All my bullets are 100% handmade by me alone. Been making bullets since 1954.

Merry Christmas

At this time nobody is offering [7MM] jackets suitable for bullets which would appeal to point-blank BR shooters - say 90 to 115 Gr. or so - this would require 1.00" or shorter jacket lengths. The shortest J4 offering is 1.200" long. If he's looking for longer jackets, I have a stash of 1.340" long J4 [7MM] jackets which I will part with. Depending upon bullet configuration, these [1.34"] are best suited to 160-170 Gr. weights. If interested, he can call during business hours, M-F - I'm not hard to find. I will not part small - less than full bucket - quantities. Good shootin'! RG
