It's what Elmer Keith and Bill Jordan called 9mm's when I visited Keith's home many years ago.
These days the 9x19 is a much better cartridge for self defense.
Jordan told me his preference for the 45 acp reflected his thoughts that while a 9mm might expand, a 45 ain't gonna shrink
My old armorer buddy told me the reason they had to shift from the 1911 to the 9mm was the fedgov's forcing them to hire more women and minorities. Both tend to have smaller hands. Likely where the term "double tap" originated.
