Do you fear snakes!

We've got the world's deadliest snakes and spiders all living in Australia but it's just par for the course growing up here I guess. I nabbed a black snake in my garage a few weeks ago and the world infamous funnel web spider occasionally makes its way into my yard. Always best to try and catch them so they can be milked for anti-venom though.

My wife one time was out for her walk and saw a black water snake sunning or asleep up on a bank. She by nature couldn’t leave well enough alone and threw a dirt clod at it and hit him. He came up mad and went vertical and chased her, she said it was all she could do to run fast enough to get away. This was back before cell phones too.

With regard to Webster's comment that he thought they were protected in Texas- Many state's wildlife rules/laws are written in what is called a "prescribed" season. This means there are specific seasons and limits on all wildlife in that state. So, if there is no season for snakes for example, they cannot be killed.

The same reason why we don’t kill coyotes.

I guess every news article about constrictors in Florida is just rumor ?
Hardly a ridiculous statement .
No not at all but to make a statement like that insinuates I am a totally irresponsible person with no regard to the environment.
The media would have you believe that the entire problem is from individuals who released animals into the wild but in reality part of the problem arrised from when the hurricane went through and properties were damaged that had allowed the snakes and reptiles to get loose.
So in fact it was a combination of the 2.
The snakes I bred averaged 5-6 ft in length so are little threat to anything bigger than a small rabbit and even if I did turn them loose here in SC the would never survive any winter Temps.
So clearly you and the other poster know little to none about reptiles other than what you've heard from the media.

Ok well thats a rational fear there
At one point I simply realized I never actually have gotten bit by one
so have an irrational fear based more on emotion
but we dont have brown recluses here
----even our Black widows, pretty much run from ya as soon as the light turns on
I didn't mention my mother supposedly got a bite from a black widow, but she was a pathological liar so who knows...

These constrictors were allowed to be imported by politicians and lobbyist . Mistake 1 . A 5 to 6 ft snake eats half of a 10 to 12 ft snake.
You were in it for the money. It makes no difference to you what second owner does with the snake. I see Florida has state sponsored contestfor constrictor hunting .You had a motive....

Yes Florida does have state funded hunting for constictors and for good reason, they are an invasive species that is out of control just like iguanas, snakehead fish and about 1,000 other creatures and insects in our country many of which cause far more monetary damage.
If the state was able to eradicate the pythons in Fla. I would be all for it but because of the terrain it's not an easy solution to hunt them down and kill them.
I sure did make money raising them just like those that breed dogs, cats , birds and plenty of exotic animals.
Your comment regarding second owners is an absolute joke and shows your stupidity regarding reptile owners lumping everyone into the same mentality of a few bad keepers.
Do you show the same concern for someone that sells a puppy that they're not going to dump it when they get tired of it.
Your lack of knowledge on the subject is overwhelming
Wildlife officials have determined that constictors such as boas and pythons cannot survive winter conditions north of Daytona Beach so all your second hand owners are releasing their animals to due as soon as cold weather hits.

Back in the 90's on the rez in South Dakota. Shooting dogs. Driving across pasture in some tall grass and this guy was cruising with his head up in the air... kinda spooky...for a while. And just like that, thunder and a flash, and his head went flying....I'm 6' 5" and when I held my arm straight out his head was close to the ground. My friend Keith was on that trip with me.

Your first sentence sums it up. I fear the left also.
