Do we epoxy the picatinny to the receiver?

I've been known to epoxy scope bases on hard recoiling handguns. Is this something that should be done on our rifles?
Yes, and I recommend getting a rail with a recoil lug. Usually the rail and action (R700) are not a perfect fit and bedding/gluing the rail in provides the best reliability. Better yet, get an action with an integral rail and lug.
 
I have used JB Weld before when hold was extremely critical. As to recoil lug designs, seems the Near MFG bases have shoulders that fit front and rear of each receiver bridge. Literally a drop-in fit, and Richard Near is THE Artist of Excellence when it comes to crafting steel. True Genius...
