Do not use USA FOXX & Furs

I feel pretty sick about it. I had lots of trailcam pics of that bear and I named him Peanut Butter because he always ate the peanut butter off the trees first before hitting the bait. That bear aged at 7.75 years old from his tooth sample.

I am kicking around a lawsuit in small claims court but I do not have ton of cash and who knows what that will cost and what the judge would even decide?

The system is against the working man

If they can claim that you did not properly prepare the hide and you cannot prove otherwise it’s just a he-said deal. Even if you win the case the damages will most likely be limited to reimbursement of the taxidermy charges. How much time and energy do you want to put into pursuing this?

I have thought about all of that. Even if I did win and they judge said you owe him X amount for damages who said they would even pay it?

I know a few contractors that have gone to court and won their case when their clients didnt have the money to pay for the job they did and never were paid.

They decided it was not worth going back to court to try and get paid so they dropped it.

These two owners have no morals or values. The one owner Andy during our phone call on 5-17-23 tells me he wont refund my money " Because they did the work and put out a good product"

Now I am trying to get the word out and so someone else can avoid going through this.

Before we get started with what happened I want to say pre 2020 I used this company for tanning several times and had good results. If you look at 2020 and beyond on their google reviews and Minnesota Better Business Bureau complaints and you will see a pattern like what happen to me.

I shot this bear Sept 1st 2020 and it was my first bear I have ever shot. I have been on a few DYI hunts in the past and never had anything come in that I wanted to shoot. This hunt was a DIY hunt again and this bear was over 300lbs easy.

As you can see it was not warm out there was a cold front and I shot that bear about 6:30pm that night.

I had that bear out of the woods and on a trailer in an hour and had it skinned out and cooling by around 10pm. I washed the blood out of the hide and had the hide cooling until around 1am and then I put it in my coffin cooler buried in ice and went to sleep. I wanted to make sure the whole hide was cold before it went in the cooler and it was.

I woke up early and drove home and put that bear in my freezer so it was in the freezer by noon and the hide was ice cold every where I checked before I placed it in the freezer. I drove back to my hunting camp to start picking things up.

The freezer it went into we use all the time that was the reason I put it in there so if the freezer went out we would catch it right away.

I mention all of this because I want to provide detail on how the hide was taken care of. At no point was it hot. I waited until the weather got cold up here before I sent it off to USA Foxx Furs in Duluth MN, I spoke with Andy over the the phone before I shipped it and he agreed to charge me an extra 100 bucks to do a 45 day rapid tan on it.

I sent that bear over night on Oct 23 2020 and they had it the next day Oct 24th 2020. They had to sign for the bear.

About 3 months goes by and I call because I have not seen the bear and they said it looks like it went in the standard tanning pile and there were to many bears for them to find it so I would have to wait another 3 months before it would be finished. I called 4 months later and they had not got to it.

At this point I asked for the bear back and said I would drive the 4 hours from my place to get it and I was told they would not give me it back because they would not dig for it in their freezer. I said I would come dig for it and was told no. So to save a lot of time as the post is already getting long this game went on for almost 3 years. I tried calling the DNR, Sheriffs and no one wanted to get involved because it was a bear. Even thought they all said it was my personal property.

Andy and his partner Adam sent me a refund for the 100 bucks at the 2 year mark that I paid extra for at the beginning after I said my attorney would be calling them and said they would have it completed in a month. That was 5 months ago.

I got a call on Wednesday 5-17-23 from Andy and he said it was finished but there was a little hide slippage. I told him I have been saying the hide was going to slip for the past 2 years because a bear cant go that long and was laughed at and told I do not know what I am talking about. They wont give me a full refund because they did they work and put out a good product.

Andy said the hide got hot and it was my fault and then told me they took that hide out of their freezer in 2021 and it was fleshed and has been salted and in a pile of other bears ever since. So they straight up lied to me about it being lost in their freezer.

I called a good taxidermist I know and he told me flat out with a bear and how fatty and greasy the hide is once you take them out of the freezer to flesh them you have to tan them. Salt will not preserve them and bugs will get into the hide and eat it and cause the hair to fall out. This is what my hide looks like it showed up today. Looks like a good product doesn't it? Just some hair slippage.

Now today they wont take my calls imagine that. I filed a fraud complaint with the ND AG office and will call the MN Better Business Bureau Monday but I am not sure I will get any where. Safe yourself the headache and do not send anything here. Just google USA Foxx Furs and read the reviews from the past 2 years.
FML. wow

So the owner Andy actually returned my call this morning and again the blame was put on me and how the hide was taken care of it, He claimed it has nothing to do how they stored the hide and the time it took.

He also admitted that they put my bear wrong in their computer with the wrong number and that was why they could not find it.

He also admitted they were not going to take to time to find it when I requested it back many times over. He admitted that they had some other bears in the batch with mine that the hides slipped.

His words were "we need to keep business moving we cant stop to look for things like this"

Then said well I will refund you 160 dollars for your trouble and leave it at that.

So I told him to keep the $160 bucks because it is going to cost you a lot more. Expect a call from a couple of places and more than likely a summons.

After the comment about we could not stop moving to find your bear because basically we didn't want to and trying to put the blame on me I am over it.

I also told him I am making a youtube video about this. I have our conversation from this morning recorded so the he said she said is over.

The best part is the one owner Andy still says that the hide had some slippage and most of it was on the face. The bear looks like I ran it over with my toro.

You're much more diplomatic than I would expect myself to be!

One would hope to be this reserved considering the time and care that you put into this. I hope to show your level of resraint if/ when this happens to me.

You're doing it the right way....I think.
Good on you!
