Don't assume that a long jump to the rifling is not going to be accurate.
I have 300winmag load with 130 gr TTSX that jumps them 1/4" and it's the most accurate load in that barrel.

Spot on. BarlowIn a hunting rifle, jump the bullets. Start at 10 thou off and work back. If it’s a factory barrel and chamber with potentially a generous freebore you may have to live with a fair jump. Make sure there is enough bullet in the neck too, don’t want them coming apart in the field from a bit of rough transport.
