Discolored brass from heat

Brass is fine! Mine have done that when I left them out in the sun in the summer to dry. Also if you tumble them with something other brass like a penny or in my case a washer it will turn them different colors. They also get a-lot hotter in your chamber then they will under a light...

Go to the range on a Saturday and pick yourself up a few hundred more. 8)

I went out to use my range one Monday and all the SWAT teams in the area were practicing. I decided to stay and watch the drills and still enjoy my day off and be entertained. When they left there was brass laying everywhere and the brass buckets were half full. I spent the next few hours picking up brass on the 50 yard range from the benches to the target boards.

I left the range with three full five gallon buckets of once fire .223/5.56 brass. Needless to say I was at the range every Monday thereafter when they practice. I'm lucky my next door neighbors son is on the SWAT team and he now keeps me informed of practice dates.

You will be better off asking around your area even if you have to pay scrap brass prices for it at a range or salvage yard.
