Dillon Square Deal

I have a square deal that is probably 30 years old. It's in good shape though since I haven't used it much. I wouldn't buy one of these now as the price is to close to the 550B. Since I have it though I figure I might as well set it up and see if I can get some use out of it. Can anyone give me any tips on this press and mabie any info about any negatives about it. It's in 45 acp and I wouldn't plan on switching it to any other caliber. I also have a 550B I can use for Rifle calibers. Thanks in Advance

I have two and prefer them over the 550 for handgun cartridges because of the auto index. The press is pretty self explanatory. The only thing I'd suggest is that you make sure you adjust the powder linkage so the powder bar travels its full stroke. The powder system is plenty accurate for handgun cartridges, but you will get inconsistent drops if it doesn't travel its full stroke. I use tightgroup and it meters very well. Just like other powder drops, it struggles with some of the non ball powders.

Thanks much Savage. This is the kind of info I was looking for. I will get mine set up and give it a go.
