Dillon RL 450 Info

A friend of my just bought a used RL 450 Dillon press and I am going to try and help him set it up. I have downloaded a manual for an RL550, but there are still some differences as this has the old style manual powder drop and priming setup. If anyone knows where I can download a manual for the RL 450, please let me know. Dillon doesn't have it listed on their site and as they're 2 months behind on their orders, it's difficult to get help on the phone. I'm not complaining. Everything involving the shooting sports jumped on the crazy train and left the station after the election, and Sandy Hook only made it worse. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Darryll,
The set up would be the same as the RL550. As stated the difference between the two is the manual powder drop and priming. There is an upgrade to the 450 that will automate those two steps.
There are some great videos on You Tube that show the set up for the 550. Basically the 450 is a turret press and you rotate the shell holder instead of rotating the head of the press. Each station is set up like a single stage press.
Hope this helps,

Tony

I believe they will convert it for a fee to a 550.They also had a frame update on it several years ago.

Dillon will upgrade a 450 0r 450B to a 550. It is not free but it is a good deal. You will want to upgrade the primer feeder and powder measure anyway. There are some differences in the top of the ram where the shell plates connect.

Nat-

You telling the truth there. Upgraded my 450 to a 550B a long time ago, and I never looked back. Customer support at Dillon's is outstanding.
