Dillon 650 case slide

I am looking for any ideas on improving the case slide that pushes the cases from the case feeder on a dillon 650 into station one on the shell plate. I have adjusted it, cleaned, dry lubes etc. The problem I am having is that the cases do not quite fully slide into the shell plate, even if the shell plate is free of debris. Thanks, tom

Not having one, just a s.w.a.g. - any chance the stroke seating the case is being stopped short or can be increased?

That is adjustable. The problem seems to be in my opinion too much drag and too weak of a spring too push the case across but I am hoping someone might have found a solution.

I haven't had that specific problem, but mine was dragging a bit so I used a dremel with polish on the metal top to a nice shine. You could either call Dillon for a free replacement spring, or you may try to clip off a few windings with some snips which should shorten the spring a bit to increase tension. Are you sure the shell plate is lined up perfectly? There is a 'process' and a special tool to align it, but usually you only have to do that if you disassemble the head underneath it.

You need to push the handle well forward like seating a primer. Then you will notice the case moves forward more into the shellplate in perfect position. If you do not do that it will be crushed by the sizer die because it is not properly aligned.

Like said above. Push handle forward, otherwise the brass will not got forward. And make sure the case feed plate is on the he proper direction.

I swap between 9mm Para, 308win & 223rem. The first time I changed from 9mm to 308 I installed the case feed plate the wrong way and experienced the same trouble as you're having.

That is not the issue, I think. This only happens about 1 per 50 cases fed. I did find a burr inside the case slide that may be causing the hang up if the case lands off just a bit from the cad feeder which would increase drag. I may also put a stronger spring in. Thanks for the suggestions though

I had that issue running .223 cases and all that was needed was a good cleaning and like you, I did install a stiffer spring.
If the block slides freely, the spring is strong enough, and you are pushing the handle forward to the primer install position, I dont see how it cannot position a case in the shell plate properly.....hope you find the issue
