Dillon 550 forum ?

My 550 basic didn't come with a chute or a ramp (and a bin) that ejects a round after the 4th station. Is there an accessory that I can buy to mitigate this? Other than making my own ramp to leads into a bin or a box?

thanks for that info. Ive got several single stages i could size/prime on—. ill look into that.
for a pistol i think a person could actually bell/powder drop on station 1 and put a powder check die in station 2 then seat station 3 and crimp on 4. i will try it.
The problem would be that the powder bar return back up arm attachment bracket is at station 2.

I run whidden floating die toolheads. Uniquetek clamp kits on all my toolheads. Powder die with area419 funnel and Dillon powder die adapter. Powder dropped on A&D Fx120/IP setup and dumped on press.

I run 2 toolheads for every caliber.. 1 brass processing toolhead and 1 loading toolhead.
Very helpful. Gives me something to study up and think thru.

As a business owner with 3 kids, I dont have a lot of time. Thats why I have 2 dedicated automated 1050's with all the options, bullet feeders, case feeders, on press automatic trimmer, setup for the 2 calibers we shoot the most (9mm and 5.56).

I can run off a LOT of ammo very quickly with these 2 machines otherwise I wouldnt be doing it..
sounds like you are a very busy man. and also sounds like the kids shoot some of that ammo you load. gettin em started right— thats great

For those wondering if you can make precision ammo on a Dillon...I size all my precision rifle brass on my 550c.

Here is some 6 Dasher 3x Alpha I just sized in my 550c and loaded up. Lucky if there is 0.0005 total runout.

LE Wilson SS FL Bushing sizing die with 265 bushing. Squeezes neck 0.004 under loaded and bumps shoulder 0.0015..

Then a 21st Century 0.241 TiN mandrel to open neck back up 0.002 for a final .002 neck tension...

Ive been running a 550c, 2 x XL650's and 2 automated 1050s for years.

What's your questions i can probably help.
I'm a new reloader and I'm operating a 550C. I've loaded about 150 rounds of 9mm and I don't think I'm consistent. When I check the rounds in the die, some are a tight fit but can be pressed in with my thumb. Any new user hints?

Are you crimping in a separate die? Doing so makes it easier to adjust the crimp. For 9mm, I aim for .377-.379" case mouth diameter after crimping. Too much crimp will bulge the case out immediately below the crimp point.
The bottom of the size die needs to either just touch the top of the shellplate, or be backed up so the bottom of the die is only .001-.002" above the top of the shellplate. After the bullet is seated, but before it is crimped, the case should hold the bullet tight enough that the bullet cannot easily be pushed deeper into the case. If it can, then either bullet diameter or case neck thickness is an issue.

What brass are you using? I see this a lot when people are using fired/range pickup brass with the Glock bulge... only way to remove this is with a roll sizer

I started using brass I had fired from about three different sources. My most recent loads are new brass I bought at Bass Pro Shop. I'm at work now so I can't see the brand type. I'll check out my bad ones and see if they all come from the same source.
