Set your gun up early and leave on target, come back throughout the day and check point of aim. This happens in matches when the sun rolls in and out of the clouds .

so....if the sun can change POI that much, how do you ever really get a zero and ultimately how do you compensate at longer ranges?

Zero's are subjected continuesly to ambient.
How much to compensate boils done to experience.
