Differences in Berger bullets?

Can someone please explain the differences in these Berger bullets? Particular construction/composition. Thanks

.308 175 grain

MATCH TARGET VLD
MATCH HUNTING VLD
MATCH TARGET BT LONG RANGE

Match Target has a thicker jacket. VLD= Very Low Drag
Match Hunting has a thinner jacket (original jackets) Still VLD

Never had any Target BT LR. I believe they're made with a more normal ogive shape like Sierras etc. As someone mentioned in your other post about Sierras, that shape is a little more forgiving about relations to the lands.
The VLD's can be quite tempermental about finding the correct seating depth.

The above statements are spot on. The target BT has a tangent ogive, v a secant ogive on the VLD.

So then how do Lapua scenars stack up? Are they also temperamental? I'm having a hell of a time with them. Thanks

Joe is absolutely correct about that. fitter I have found the Lapua's in the two rifles I shoot them in to like them to have a jump and not a jam same as Sierra's Where as the Bergers usually like a Jam @ least the ones I was finally able to get to shoot. When I buy bergers I always get the wobbly ones Joe has returned. LOL

Thanks. I'll keep working at it.

The berger Long range bullets are sort of a hybrid. Somewhere between a Tangent and Secant Ogive giving you the best of both worlds. In a rifle you single load for it's hard to beat a true VLD jammed into the lands. However in a rifle that you are loading to magazine length where a jump is involved that's where the "Long Range" bullet shines. High BC and not finiky about seating depth.
I've been using the Berger 185 grain .308 Long Range bullet in my .308 with fantastic results all the way out to 1000 yards. it's now my go to bullet for the .308 Winchester.
