Difference between Any/Any and F class target face

Guys. I'm twisting here a bit. Been amassing the stuff to build a F class/ Benchrest type rifle for grins, but here lately I'm thinking of prone long range riflery. If one is shooting any rifle any sight in long range, that is the standard target face, right? Not the F class target with the smaller rings?

Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking if you shoot prone, unsupported in an F-class match, do they change your target and let you shoot on a regular LR/MR target? I've never seen that done but I believe that the answer is, "No." If you are asking if long-range (e.g. rule 7.18, 7.19) matches shoot different targets than F-class (e.g. Chapt. 22) matches, the answer is "Yes."

Correct: you shoot w/ a sling, you should get the larger rings.

Only exception might be an F-Class-only match though most ranges will accommodate the exceptions.

So, what you are saying is that some matches are combined F-class and prone? How are those scores reported? What rule covers this? Do you actually report a prone MR/LR score intermixed with F-class?

All our matches are mixed with match rifles, service rifles and F-class. Adding another classification is no big deal.

When I submit the NRA reports, I keep the classes separate and list the shooters and their scores under the proper heading.

In fact, the only thing that I need to keep in mind is the number of F-class targets and regular targets. Sometimes we have an F-classer pulling a regular target of a sling shooter pulling an F-class target. Our shooters all get along quite well, slingers and f-classers.

All of our matches at Oak Ridge are prone/F combined. From time to time we can't fill a target with on class of shooter and have a sling shooter(s) and F class shooter(s) squadded together; e.g., two F'rs and a sling relayed together. Put an F class target on #13 and a Prone target on #12. Sling guy shoots on #12, F'rs shoot on #13. The only thing is the guy in the pits has to remember what target he's pulling, but that usually gets worked out after the 1st sighter.

Everyone's score card lists the class you are shooting so everyone's scores go where they are supposed to go. Pretty easy.
