Difference? 17 Hornady Hornet, 17 Ackley Hornet & K Hornet?

I've got a CZ 17 Hornady Hornet that I really like. And I finally got a load it really likes. But, I always am thinking about the "next" gun, or just need to know what is the difference in other calibers, and so on.

So, I have this mystery I know can probably be easily solved: What is the difference between the three 17 Hornet versions? It seems like the Ackley came out first and was formed from 22 Hornet brass. And then the K Hornet? I don't even know what that is. And then Hornady came out with their 17 Hornet, and that appears to be the only one someone can buy factory ammo for?

What's the difference in the 3 cartridges, speeds, advantages and drawbacks, etc? Anybody have a picture of all 3 cartridges next to each other?
Thanks

I think VarmintAl's website has some Hornet info. He has 17 Hornet load data. Don't see 22 data.

A Google search for each of the Hornet variations should bring up the case dimensions.

I appreciate the picture! I didn't know the K-Hornet was a 22 caliber. I always thought there was 3 kinds of 17 Hornet, that helps clear it up a bit. I'm glad I got the CZ 17 Hornady Hornet, it's a super accurate rifle for me.

My newest sage rat slayer is a 20 Vartarg, and making brass for it is, well, a labor of love. So factory made 17 Hornet brass is a blessing.

History of the 22 Hornet.

Nice write up on the 17 Hornet
