Dies for 6BR-DX 40*IMP

I should have added that we're looking for feedback on cartridges to add to our line of dies.

What does everyone here need?

Dave has us ready to go with dies that will size your brass to work smoothly in your chamber for many firings without overworking the brass.

Are these PT&G made dies you are reselling? It kind of sounds that way.

Robert

Robert,

These dies are made right here, not at PTG. They arrive at our place as a 12' bar of steel.

I meant that Dave at PTG has helped suggest reamer dimensions. Sorry that I wasn't very clear on that.

Thanks

If you are not shooting some bench rest game where you are trying to totally tailor the case capacity to a particular powder, I don't see what the BR-DX gets you over a Dasher for 600 to 1000 yards so why bother.

Robert

FWIW - I only made that comment because Russ is a prone shooter who does a fair amount of longer range work and with the smaller case capacity it does not seem the BR-DX cartridge is as well suited for that application (over something like a Dasher or a BRX) - - but if he just wants to try something different and play then I get that.

My reamer has a .073 freebore on it. I have two rifles chambered in the BRDX with 10 twist barrels. I shoot alot of the 80gr fowler bullets out of them. That freebore is right for the 87gr Berger.

Thanks John Is that the wonderful 87gr Berger VLD that shoots so well in my 6mm Gas Gun?

Robert:
Im still shootin the ole 6.5X284 for long range and ofcourse the 308 in fullbore/Palma. Mid range is either the 308 or my beloved 6BR at 300,500,600 and the 300Meter game. Cant seem to give up that 6.5 when the chips are on the table. Your help with getting the right dimensions for my chamber reamer that matches my FL die was a trumendous help. Thank you.

This would be a XTC and mid range only cartridge for me. Maybe Im crazy for giving up the simplicity of the 6BR that is so wonderfully accurate.

Hope all is well

John,

I just paid for the 6 mm Dasher dies I ordered. You ask for what other dies? I would like to see 7mm Shehane as that is an upcoming build for me.

Thanks

Thanks for the business and the suggestion. I have a die reamer for the Shehane and they will be in the next batch. Should be ready near the end of May.

Just a heads up for folks, I got my 6mm Dasher resizing die from John Whidden and it looks very nice. I do not have the barrel chambered up so I can not say how it works.

The die included a bump gauge which I did not know, I make one up for each barrel/reamer combination I make but for many the bump gauge is a nice extra.

I sent John a print of the BR-TC, and is working on my die, very helpful, many questions, and I am sure it will be RIGHT when I get it. Delightful guy to work with.

I also received my new Whidden 6 Dasher FL bushing die and I am very impressed with the quality of the manufacturing. I've used nothing but Redding dies until now and John's die is much nicer.
The inclusion of the shoulder bump comparator for your calipers shows how much Whidden is thinking about the customer. Well done.
