Did my first ever competition yesterday

7/28/18 I did my first ever shooting competition. Was a mid range match (300, 500, 600) at camp Atterbury with Central Indiana Highpower Rifle Shooters. I am very please it was my first time ever shooting past 300 yards. Had I not accidentally adjusted my scope the wrong direction at 300 i would have had a good score. For first time i am very happy though i kept all shots on paper.

Congratulations and welcome to the addiction! AND I PROMISE YOU, it won't be the last time you adjust the wrong way......

Agreed i felt like such a dumbass dialing in 2 clicks left intead of right. Was thinking of my old bow shooting IBO 3D, go left to adjust right. I swear nerves didnt have anything to do with it. Haha

Congratulations on your first match. You did good, now you will improve from there. Good Luck on the next match in advance. Keep us informed.

Well i know for sure i need a cart to pull my rests, gun, and a damn cooler with. Sunscreen too!!!! My legs still hurt. I noticed i have a nice bruise on my collar bone. I havent shot much from prone that puts the butt in a odd spot and putting 70 rounds down range of 6.5. Still sunburnt and bruised it was a blast. Met a ton of great people and cant wait till next time.

Maybe i can sneak a shillen barrel in there too. :-)

Welcome to the Dark Side. Job Well Done
It only gets better.

I shot there many years ago, remember the Heat and Humidity .
In those days Tanks running around .

Welcome prone shooter, get a set of iron sights and a Creedmoor coat and start shooting long range as well.
If you need help ask for it here, there are a good number of prone shooters on the forum.

I'm shooting F open with my no changes from the factory savage 12 LRP in 6.5 creedmoor. Although a shillen barrel is on my short list, i noticed some poi shift as barrel temp came up at each yardage.
My loading is still a work in progress, im still learning, lots of great info here.

Don't feel bad about adjusting the windage the wrong way. Use it to improve the next match. Guilty of that myself. Have looked through spotting scope- impact one minute left, reach to sight and proceed to apply one minute left, fire, impact two minutes left-damn it!!!!!! It happens.
