With the wind at 6:00 theres no telling what youll get. Theres no way to predict where your bullet will go without flags and real good experience at holding for it. Its hard to decipher a load test shot in a headwind or tailwind. It makes shots go up, down and to each side according to barrel twist and intensity. If you shoot them again in a 3:00 or 9:00 youll be able to see the vertical component in your loads

Hate to appear too dumb but .005" off what and at what range

5 off the lands according to your jump test. Range doesn’t matter, I’d shoot at 100.

Perhaps wind like today which probably helped produce rather questionable results at the 300 meter range. Oh well, tomorrow is another day but in this state (Kansas) the wind will probably come with it. It's no wonder the Native Americans here called it Land of the South Wind. I hope the comments on the targets are readable.

Hard to make anything of that

Would you guess that without that following wind I'd have had smaller groups? I'm about to part company with 175 grain bullets but I'm willing to wait for a calmer day. I looked at some previous targets from the same range shooting Berger 150 gr. flat bases and 46 grns. of Varget at 300 meters. In calm conditions and no mirage, I was getting results like 1.632", 1.592". 2. 867", .987", and 1.264". The same bullet and load with a strong, gusty wind at 6:00 o'clock produced 2.132", 2.987", 3.188" and 3.323"

Unless you're shooting Palma most mid range 308 guys stay around 165-168 bthp
I have used 175 with good results just not with Varget

I've got more 175s and 4064 so I'll give them a ride. Just haven't had luck with it before Could you give me a good starting point for a load and I'll go from there?
