Dial Indicators

Currently using the Redding Case Gage tool with a 1" diameter 0.001" dial. Is this a good dial? Are there more accurate dial to consider for measuring turned necks?

What is the difference between your fired brass and your loaded rounds (neck o.d., I mean)? I'm guessing it a lot more than what you are worrying about with turning. I turn all new brass, but I'm not sure why, LOL.

I am happy measuring w. t. with my cheap digital caliper, no more often than I measure. Just don't turn down past the mfgr's lowest point in the neck. Just get them as even as you can without making the thinnest point any thinner.

A dial indicator will quickly show the variation on your necks. Could possibly make a thickness measurement using your indicator and automotive type feeler gauges. Better yet a tubing mic. Don't have much use for a dial caliper to measure neck thickness.

as accurate and repeatable as my $250+ tube mic - i’d buy 3 more of these if i had a need... and put it on a stand, don’t try and hold it for repeatability.

calipers are not appropriate for something you’re trying to measure in tenths.
