Currently using the Redding Case Gage tool with a 1" diameter 0.001" dial. Is this a good dial? Are there more accurate dial to consider for measuring turned necks?

as accurate and repeatable as my $250+ tube mic - i’d buy 3 more of these if i had a need... and put it on a stand, don’t try and hold it for repeatability.
But, but the digital ones read in tenths!calipers are not appropriate for something you’re trying to measure in tenths.
