Determining Case Volume with Water

When I called Quick Load for advise I was instructed that I needed to measuring cases with the water level both convexed and concaved to get the average volume.

I'm curious. Is the difference significant?

Not enough to read on a $100 digital scale. It's engineer-speak for " It doesn't really matter but I had better answer it with something that sounds believable and intelligent."

Great program but don't get too caught up in it. It's a modeling program.
I feel my results justify the effort. You may certainly do as you wish. I have long experience with engineering analysis and modeling software and understand the limitations. Thanks for the warning. [br]
As far as volume measurement uncertainty: my tests showed variance of +-.2 grain, even when making the surface as flat as possible. That's why I just take an average of ten cases and use that value.

With Quickload, you need to use water, but if you are weighing capacity for sorting, 99% alcohol is best.

Not doubting your capabilities at all. I apologize if it sounded that way or if you thought my comments were directed at you specifically. It's just that this forum is read by many users with less engineering modeling experience and I was just saying that QuickLoad is not the 'be all, end all' program that some folks make it out to be.

I am currently on my 5th upgrade of the program and have spent many hours over the years performing 'what ifs'. I consider it a great tool but it does fail many DOE guidelines.

This page, http://www.6mmbr.com/Quickload.html , has a ton of great info on the program.

No apology needed. Also, as you previously noted, the manual contains a lot of useful information regarding use, background and file formats.
