Deteriorating recoil pad

Hi all,

I'm looking to replace a limbsaver recoil pad on a rifle that has gone tacky. Also looking to replace a hard but plate on a shotgun.

Does anyone have any recommendations for recoil absorption, won't degrade and more than happy if it increases length of pull. For the shotgun something that doesn't get caught on clothing. Will be grinding to fit and probably need to cut the shotgun square before install.

No experience with this for shotties but worth a look:

Limbsaver is the best IMO, but they can get gummy. I once needed a pad for a custom stock that had a butt larger than than the largest pad. Bought a small piece of sorbothane (similar to the rubber Limbsaver uses) for a crazy price to make it.

Pachmayr has always made the best pads available. The Decelerator (in the Old English pattern)is the best of Pachmayr's offerings for recoil absorption. While pads like Kick-eez and Limbsaver are fine as far as recoil management is concerned, they absolutely suck when it comes to durability and appearance. Pachmayr's grind better, look better, and last better. These are my choice for any of my wood-stocked hunting rifles. My own 35 Whelen has a Decelerator which has been on it for exactly forty years. It's been hunted with in rough conditions for most of those years. The pad is not sticky and doesn't look like an over-roasted marshmallow.
Now, if I'm being honest (and when am I not?), what I mostly use nowadays are pieces of foam flooring. While longevity isn't awesome, appearance isn't too bad and recoil absorption is great. At a cost of roughly $1.00 per rifle, that ain't bad either. I attach them to the stock with a special gunsmith grade adhesive (Shoe-Goo) which I also use to layer them for a thicker pad. On a lightweight hunting rifle, these pads add about 1/2 ounce in weight. If the pad breaks down after five years or so, I say, "to hell with the budget", and cough up another dollar for a replacement. WH

Go to Tractor Supply
Get one of them 3/4 inch rubber mats they have
Carve your own out (Or something like that)
I make my own stuff whenever I can, sure it make take 2 hours when you can just buy it
but,
I save a lot of different types of meterials because 5 years later I say
"Hey, I know what I can use that for!"
----
I saved some black 1/4" plastic from a Polaris Ranger bed once
had no idea what for
then when I got an AICS Chassis
used that material for buttstock spacers and it looks factory.

That's for all the replies guys! Sorry I haven't been back to check up on this post recently.

Yep I'm in Australia so free replacement isn't going to happen unfortunately.

A friend also recommended the patchmar old english for the shotgun. What version of the kick-eez do you recommend? I have one on a kelbly stock but it's pretty firm.
