Derraco Engineering Ugly SRT Trimmer

That’s what I want to hear! I have a ton of 223 brass to process and just the thought of doing it on my Lyman trimmer makes my hand cramp up, even with the drill attachment. The drill press-ability is very appealing. Based on the level of engineering with the PCPS, I can’t imagine the SRT would be bad. And for ~$60, it’s worth a shot. Still, wanted to get some feedback on it first if possible. Thanks for yours!

I have 1500 or so once fired .308 military brass in LC & FC headstamps to process. After having run an equal amount thru a RCBS hand trimmer in the past months, the old hands aren't up to the task. So I placed an order for the SRT case trimmer that will be put in a small lathe to trim the newest brass. Thanks for the reports on this piece of equipment.

Over the past 2.5 months I’ve put ~1,000 pieces of 223 brass through mine and love it. I have it set up in a drill press. It takes a few times to get a feel for it, but I haven’t found a trimmer that doesn’t. Only issue I had was when some brass shavings got clumped and stuck inside the neck of the collet and scored a few case necks, or at least that’s what I suspect the issue was. Now I just make sure to clean it out every so often and haven’t had any issues. At some point I’ll get a carbide cutter for it, but am holding off until this one wears out since the carbide cutter costs more than the unit.

Overall I don’t think you can beat it for the price point. Highly recommend!

If it’s anything like their priming unit it should be a quality tool, never tried one though.

I can handle the deburring & chamfering, it's turning that little handle on the RCBS trimmer 30+ times for each case & the pressure that it requires to press the cutter into the casemouth.
