Yesterday at the Bayou Rifles monthly 1000 yard match, the CEO of DEON Optical Corp, Minako Kobayashi and the CMO, Mari Morita, who were visiting from Japan, and attending the match announced that starting in Q1 of 2026, DEON USA would be establishing a DEON Service Facility in the Houston area to serve all US customers who may have March riflescopes that need servicing.
This means that starting in Q1 2026, owners of March riflescopes in the US will be able to contact DEON USA and they will be issued a shipping label so they can send in their March riflescope if it ever needs servicing. If the service cannot be performed at the Houston-based facility, it will be sent to the factory in Japan and returned to the customer after service is performed.
More details will be forthcoming on the official March website, Facebook and other social media sites but I wanted to let the folks here know the news ASAP.
It was great to have the CEO make the announcement in Japanese and have Mari translate for us. The 50+ shooters and spectators present were extremely nice and displayed their appreciation, but it got raucous at the end when the CEO, Minako Kobayashi thanked everyone for their attention and the March riflescope owners for their support, in English.
Minako and Mari then proceeded to shoot the match. Minako had never shot a rifle before in her life. (Japan is not exactly gun-friendly,) but she was game to do it. I shot the first match to make sure everything was proper with the rifle and ammo and to get a feel for the conditions, which were quite benign at the start. I wanted to be sure where the dot in the MTR-WFD reticle needed to be placed to score well on this hot humid day. My last 5 shots were all Xs, so I figured the placement was right. (I think I placed 2nd for that match.)
Mari shot relay 2 for the entire match. I called the wind for her just using the flags, and she was trying to aim a rifle set up for me (6’4”) when she’s a lot smaller and shorter. She managed to handle the rifle and aim it well enough to shoot a 178-3x in the first match. She did crossfire and of course, it was an X on the wrong target, so the score should have been 188-4X. She got more familiar with the setup and match 2 was a 187-3X and she roared through match 3 with a 193-5X.
Minako shot match 2 in my place as relay 1 and again, this was her first time shooting any type of firearm, but she is an incredibly quick study. She is even smaller than Mari but was also able to handle my rifle after the first few shots. She scored a 190-5X, shooting my rifle with the Majesta set at 40X to make it easier for her to get behind. She loved the experience but elected to not shoot the third match as her shoulder was hurting. I decided to not shoot match 3 either and instead allow my rifle to cool down with fans so Mari could have a rifle that would not burn her for her final match.
Jenniffer explained to Mari that since she was so small, the rifle was pushing her back with every shot and that’s why she was having so much problem getting into position after each shot. I also retightened the joystick to make sure it was guiding well and repositioned the rifle in the middle of the bipod platform. I also increased the magnification of my Majesta to its usual 80X, so she could experience the phenomenal view of the target and place the central dot on the rings of the target with surgical precision. That made a huge difference with her final match at 193-5X. She got an 8 on the last shot, and that might have been just being tired, or the last shot syndrome, of whatever, but that was a great performance. I was actually calling the wind with increased granularity, knowing she could place the central dot exactly on target (calls like "3 and a quarter lines right"; or "just a smidge under 4 lines right".)
Throughout the morning various March owners would come talk with Minako and Mari and talk about their riflescopes and their impressions. Most of the folks reported having multiple Majestas or a mix of Majestas and High Masters (10-60X56 HM).
This is a picture on the group with Minako (CEO, left) and Mari (CMO, right) with Jenniffer between them.
After the match concluded, we took some pictures and asked anyone who owns a March scope to assemble with Minako and Mari for a group picture.
