Defiance xm to xm+

I have a defiance xm action with bdl bottom metal.

I would prefer to use detachable mag bottom metal that is only avaliable in the xm+ variant. ..

Speaking with Defiance the front action screw is only 0.075 inches forward on the xm+

Couldn't a machinist just offset and oversize the front action screw?

Front action screw is 1/4, so would have to be 7/16 to clean up old hole.

And then would have to re-inlet the bottom metal.

Thanks
John

From what I understand the Defiance xm action is just Remington 700 clone short action. Not sure why you couldn't use a detachable bottom metal with it. Plenty of Remington 700 short actions out there using them.

It's proprietary intermediate length.

Their medium action is ren 700 sa foot print.

Xm and xm + are intermediate = true medium actions
