Defiance Ruckus

Is there anything about a Defiance Ruckus that would be a drawback in the game of PRS.

I want an action that has the ignition already sorted out.

Properly timed with a trigger tech diamond.

No dragging of the shroud.

No dragging of the cocking piece.

No binding of the firing pin spring.

Appropriate bolt clearance to be reliable in competition conditions but not lead to giving excess vertical in groups.

What is the opinion of the Defiance Ruckus on this forum?

I use a Ruckus for PRS. I have no issues or feel like I'm missing out. I will say that prefits for the Impact are more common/plentiful, but that's not really a big deal.

I started shooting PRS a few years back with a Defiance Ruckus but switched over to Impact 737 as prefit barrels are very plentiful and it utilizes a trigger hanger, not pinned to the receiver like a Remington 700.

Just curious, why would you need a trigger hanger for PRS which uses a chassis?

Trigger hangers were really for guys that glue their actions into the stock.

Just curious, why would you think all PRS rifles are in a chassis? I use a Manners TCS which is a stock. Trigger hangers are for guys who prefer proper sear engagement as the hangers come in different heights.

Different bolt design and the Ruckus offers guaranteed headspace for prefits while the Deviant does not.
Deviant is also about $200 more than the Ruckus, both have a 30 day money back guarantee.

There’s not an action that I’m aware of that is ready out of the box. Not even a BAT.

Defiance has had several of the issues you mentioned over the last few years.

Buy whatever you want and have it worked over. It’s a one time thing.

What issues, out of the box, do Kelbly's, Bat's and Borden's have? Please don't say "Alex says ?". I know anything "out of the box" can have an issue but on average what are you talking about?

I had wrong cocking piece in one you mention, pinfall was only 0.200. Smith found it, and got the correct piece.

Buddy's from same batch had same problem.

I’be not used a Kelbly at all, ever, don’t think I’ve ever even seen one in person. Never used a Borden either.

Pin drag/binding is extremely common with custom actions made to tight tolerances, including BAT. Defiance has had a lot of ignition related issues the last few years.

To make this simple…. Call any of the great BR smiths in the nation and tell them you want them to screw a barrel on an action and glue it in without looking it over and I’d about guarantee they’ll decline. Speedy, for one, goes through and or cuts on every thing that comes through his shop. You can see that in his videos.

Absolutely nothing that I’ve seen is perfect out of the box. Nothing.

Duly noted!
