Defiance Pre-fit tenon dimensions

I’m wanting to chamber a defiance ruckus/anti prefit for future use. I’ll be in the middle of a move soon and will be without a lathe for a while. I called defiance to get some tenon measurements and they would not give them to me. They said it was their policy to not give out tenon measurements.

Could someone help me out with headspace measurement, tenon length and bolt nose recess depth?

thanks!

Nope. One on the way should be here next week. I was hoping someone had a nicely done one I could just print instead of my shitty handwriting

Aren't Stiller actions built to Defiance dimensions? Seems like I did a Stiller re-barrel some years back and the customer provided me with a Defiance print (Maybe it was the other way around). It fit perfectly. I'll have to dig through my notes when I get to the shop.

I guess they just want to hear the one that slipped past QC from a gunsmith who measures, rather than a customer who had an accident.

Defiance doesn't publish prints. You have to measure it yourself, call them, and they will verbally work through the numbers with you.
I checked my notes. It was a Defiance Rebel and the "print" was for a Kelbly Atlas. It was a cone bolt so I don't think any of this helps the OP (unless Kelbly Atlas flat bolt actions are the same).

Most custom actions I have worked with have been pretty good on holding headspace. But I have found a few out enough to have them replaced. Bolt cone is also pretty good. Thread pitch diameter can vary quite a bit. Many actions dont hold thread timing consistent so you cant time the barrel or know where the engraving will end up without having the action once. At the end of the day, its your ass if theres a problem. I have seen enough in this business get past QC that I have little trust.

I know this was a complaint against Defiance. They made some change in 2021 to be more consistent on thread timing, but I don't know the details.

It was not a complaint from me, theres a lot of actions that dont control thread timing. It sure makes it easier when they do though.

Here is measurements I got on a Defiance Tenacity LA. Can't say yours would be the same. The mini M16 extractor seemed to work fine with clearance listed.

Thanks for the drawing and especially the updated worksheet for yucky protruding bolt nose actions. I am having to chamber way more of those than I like. I am a conehead/flat face kind of guy. :cool: My measurements of the Tenacity I have are a bit different.

A = .966
B= .966
C = .816

Bolt Nose Dia: .698

That makes a shank of .956, a bolt nose recess of .150, and a gauge protrusion of -.010.

I just cant see it as a liability if their actions are held to a standard, if the barrel is made according to the print it should be right. If not, its not on them.
Exactly, it's bullshit in my opinion.
It's no different than a suppressor manufacturer saying "sorry, no print for you to work from- just figure it out".

Only thing it protects them from is if their part is out of spec ;)

That's absolutely astonishing.

Late to the party here. I chambered and owned one Anti-X action. . Same deal, emailed for tenon specs and three days later got a no can do. Used it on one DC hunt, and sold it. No experience with their other actions.
