Deer/Antelope Bullet for 6.5x47/Creed

Wanting to know what’s your preferred deer/antelope bullet for this sized cartridge. Buddy used 140 Berger Hybrids in his creed last year on antelope and they worked; but I wasn’t real impressed with them. (They definitely didn’t perform like 215 Hybrids I know and love) while dressing them it seemed like the Berger penciled through to me, and didn’t really expand. I’m leaning towards the 143gr ELD-X for my 6.5x47. What’s everyone else use or thoughts?

Antelope are easy to blow up with not much left to make jerky out of. They are also easy to kill when you have placed your shot correctly. The 127g Barnes long range is a very easy bullet to tune, and will not blow the goat up.

I shoot a 6.5 SAUM 140 Bergers VLD Hunting @ 3150 probably taken over 25 deer and is my favorite deer cartridge, I'm thinking 140 grain bullets are to big for 6.5X47 probably around 2500 fps might be fine just thinking, depends what you want to do how far ect.

Not sure why you'd limit the 6.5x47 and 140s to 2500? Most guys are running the 140 hybrids at 2700-2820 in 24" barreled precision rifles.

I,ve never had any experience with that caliber I just googled loads for it and that's what it showed! I should have known it would be low my mistake!

Thanks folks, I’ve got a bunch of 140 VLD’s, I’ll give them a go with the 143’s and see what it likes. Ya have to try the TSX as well.

the 130 hybird is actually a hunting bullet while the 140 hybird is a match bullet

The elite hunters are a thinner jacket Hybrid if I’m not mistaken. Should have been more specific in the post about the bullet he used. I’ll keep that in mind about the 130’s though. I’ve always like heavy for caliber Bullets but for deer and antelope, it’s not really necessary.

Thanks for all the info!
