Deep Throat (sorry admin but this is legetimate)

I have a 280AI (The Real Version) on a Remington 700 - the chamber and throat are relatively short (probably SAAMI standard - with 150 Accubonds total OAL it about 3.35 and I can feel a bit more than that in the 700 LA. I want to load bullets farther out in the case than this and would would like to deepen the throat at least 20 thousandths or so. (1) Can this be done without having to totally rechamber (set back, etc.)? (2) The barrel is a 20-year old Walther barrel that is extremely hard and I understand some shops shy away from them.

Advice from the knowledgeable eagerly accepted.

Dave Kiff @ PT&G makes a throater, rather it will cut into that Walther barrel or not, is something he might know..
