Deep from the Viper's Lair - Check out the Stealth Rest

Nodak7mm

Team Lefse
Most of here know of the "Lathe Cave" and the man behind the lathe deep in the "Vipers Lair". For those that don't, our very good friend Bob Pastor creates some very unique and very special one of a kind front rest... I wish I could post more pics of Bobs work, but there is way too much too see on his webpage, so here is a tidbit that I must share...

Bob's latest creation: The F-117 Stealth rests...

How bizarre, I was just watching a video of his on youtube. To say he is quite the craftsman is an understatement. that is a pretty awesome rest!

Bob is true craftsman and this is another fine example of his work. Bob also is willing to help other machinists and shooters out by answering their questions and offering advice. I know he has helped me out a lot thanks Bob!

how are you controlling windage? Squeezing the bag?

Bag squeezing has nothing to do with "windage", it is one technique for "elevation" control though.

Bob Pastor is one of the fine Gentlemen of the shooting sports. I met Bob a few years ago on the Benchrest Central sight. Since that day it has been my privilege to get to know him and call him my friend. I have been to the Vipers Liar and have watched Bob work as he chambered three barrels for me last year. He is one of the finest barrel men in the business and has videos on his web site about how he does this.

Bob has built me Three rests and I treasure them all. Bobs web site is a great place to visit, and just spend some time looking at the "Eye Candy" and a true craftsman at work.

I disagree.... that may be your technique, but not everyones.
Bag squeezing is how I have held-off always. In both short & long range BR and F-Class.
I do not use windage tops or joysticks, and I do not slide/push my bag around once I have it set.
I squeeze the bag left or right and run the up/down with the rest leg screw.

Feel free to do so. I will of course defer to your superior skills. I am just a poor Ole country boy what could I possible know? I keep a pretty firm rear bag set-up when I squeeze my bag it seems to just move up and down, I must be doing something wrong...

I was simply pointing out how others squeeze the bag for different reasons then you, and that there are MANY techniques, not just yours.

Guess you just never considered squeezing the bag in a different maneuvering direction besides UP & DOWN
Probably not just Ole you....
