My regular Tuesday or Thursday at my club's range. Finished up with my regular smallbore practice, 60 rds, mostly in the X or 10 ring. Yeah, mostly. But that's not what I'm talkin' about.
As usual when the banging away is done there is a "Sit on the benches behind the shooting spots with other shooters to solve the problems of the world session." I'm sure most of you enjoy this almost as much as the shooting.
Well, while sitting there discussing politics, rifle bedding, best accuracy cartridges, who's got primers etc.
Two of the participants, both charitably described as "well seasoned shooters", both slightly older than I, were having a discussion about triggers, good bad, what makes a good trigger etc. What was notable was that neither one could hear what the other was saying, Well maybe one word out of four. They were both in complete agreement but not necessarily about what the other was saying.
I was wise enough or experienced enough to stay out of this talk. I could hear both of them. (My daddy taught me use earplugs many years ago) Two things came out of this afternoon at the club. 1, Dads, teach your kids to use ear plugs or equivalent.
And 2, What a great thing it is to spend an afternoon on a shooting range with a bunch of friends and a box or two of .22s.
