Not the F-Class Nationals... so far the 'tradition' has been to have it migrate around the country to suitable ranges, so as to make it a litte more accessible to Joe Average. I missed it when it was out this way in Sacramento in '06, went in '07, and now I think I may have to start squirreling away $$$ for air fare for when it gets back to the east coast.

Not sure if the Spirit of America Fullbore match is going to be the U.S. Fullbore Nationals again, including F-Class style shooting if you want). Not sure I'd go to it there again if it were.

The Fullbore F-Class Nationals will be held in Raton September 7-13, 2008 as part of the SOA matches. The program can be found at: http://www.baldeaglesrc.org/PDFs/2008%20Matches/2008_Spirit_of_America.pdf

The USA Fullbore rules can be found at: http://www.nrahq.org/compete/rules/fullbore_07.pdf

Monte may not like Raton, but it is a great place to shoot and see a lot of western game animals. The matches are very well run with a lot of prizes and awards. Also if you are lucky enough to be the Prone, F-Open or F/TR champion you get a ride in a chair carried by your friends off the firing line into the awards ceremony.

Come on out and join the fun.

OK, I'm confused, not unusual for me.

Milanuk said, that Nationals would not be in Raton, because they move every year.

Lbart said, Fullbore F-Class Nationals would be at Raton.

I went to the F-Class National last year in Raton. Had a great time.

This year I also want to go to F-Class National, like last year nationals at Raton. So what one do I go to.

Neil,

In 2007 there were two National F-Class Championships held in Raton, The first one was the first every Fullbore National Championships. Prior to 2007 this was known as the Spirit of America,SOA) match and is still know as that. F-Class was fired alongside the Fullbore prone championships. Two F-Class Fullbore Champions were decided, F-Open and F/TR. These Fullbore National Championships lasted 4 days. They will be held in Raton, NM again this year.

At the conclusion of this match in 2007 the 4th Annual F-Class National championships started and lasted 3 days. This was an F-Class match only. The 5th U.S. F-Class National Championships will be held in Lodi, WI in October. 600 and 1,000 yards. In the F-Class only championships one person fires all his shots while his scorekeeper just scores him.

In a Fullbore match in the USA you normally alternate firing shots on the same target with another shooter and score the other fellows shot before firing your next one. It is fired at 300, 500, 600, 900 and 1,000yards. It makes for an interesting match.

Larry,

I loved Raton... nasty enough it was almost like shooting @ Rattlesnake ;) You're right about the scenery, too. Most of the staff was very professional and easy enough to get along with. The one wet blanket kind of put a damper on the experience, though. Hopefully it won't be repeated.

Monte,
Don’t let an isolated incident ruin an otherwise enjoyable trip. There is always the chance of a misunderstanding when long standing rules are changed. I am sure that won’t happen again. Hope to see you at the SOA.

Lbart, thanks for the information. It looks like I'll be going to F-Class National Championships Lodi, WI in October.

Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!

You keep trying to do that, but I learned from a whiskey runner. It will be good to see you!!! Are you going to Pella this year, any new toys????

Pella's already marked on the calender.
My old heavy gun went bye bye.
My new heavy's only waitin' on the barrel.
She's a ST-1000, solid pour, 5 lbs. extra weight in the butt.
,that makes it a she, right?)
Both Light & Heavy guns can use the same front & rear rest now.
My stock gun's gettin' long in the tooth, but I got 2 back-up bbls. to play with yet.

See ya in Pella,

Al.
