date my rem 700

ok the sites and charts do not seem to match my rifle..
it is a 7 rem mag
left side of bbl appears to be an "A" and a "58"
serial number is A673****.
no luck with that data
rear sight is a windage adjustable sliding ramp small buckhorn.
action screws are "straight" not allen/hex head.
besides the top of the receiver being drilled and tapped for bases, the left rear
has 2 holes for a peep sight.

As you say the barrel code don't seem right I will say the prefix was added around '74 when they added the anti bind rail and slot in right bolt lug. So my guess is sometime after that till around '80 when the B prefix started?

If you get on the Remington web site, select "Contact Us" at the bottom, then select "Online Help Center" and finally press the "Contact Support" button, you'll be given a form to fill out with your question. Type in all the details and serial number and ask for the date of manufacture. They will get back to you within a day or two with your answer. I've done this with a bunch of guns, including 7's, 700's, a 722 and a 40XBR. I'm happy with the service.

I thought the title of this post was for a new reality tv show. You know how it goes. Give the rifle to three people to take to a match and whom ever treats it the best gets the opertunity to purchase it. I think that would be a great show. ;D
