data for .280ack

Does anyone have any .280ack ..... RL 17 data they would like to share for 140 sierra or 168 gr berger vld?

I and my son have 2 700bdl hart bbl, 26" 9 1/4 twist 280ai.

We tried Rl powders and settled on h4350 58.6gr and h4831 60.1gr with the 140 Sierra sbr and nosler 140 bt. both shot .300" at 3145fps in r/p brass with 9 1/2 primers, our guns showed no pressure signs and brass extracted easily, oal length is just under the mag max for both bullets.

your chamber may not be the same but should be close, the bbl may be different but close. The VLd bullets are longer and cause to seat back in the case due to mag length and so we stayed away from them, the 140, do all we have needed

try these loads beginning 1-2gr lower and work up to be sure your pressure is ok.

we have take a number of mule deer and none fail to just colaspe - good long range rifle great choice.

My load is RL-17, 56grs and the 168 Beger Vld. My rifle is a Win mod 70 with a 24" Krieger barrel fwt contour, 9 1/2 twist, Nosler brass, cci br primers. I have chronoed this load and it does 2925 avg with low ES and SD mumbers and is a half moa load at 200yards.
Start at 53grs and work up. Oh I have also modified my mag box so I can seat them out to lands, my COL is 3.430" and thats .010" off the lands.

Thanks for the load. I will start there. I am getting pretty good 100yd accuracy with H4831 but the velocity is pretty eratic...I thought maybe RL 17 would give a little higher velocity and maybe more consistant.

If you want velocity then give MAGPRO a try. I was getting 3070 fps with 162 A-MAXs with no pressure signs. This is out of a 27" barrel. This is about 100 fps more than any other powder i've tried. Dirty burning stuff though. I've settled on VV N165 at 2960fps, accurate and clean.
