Data book doesn't jive with RIfle

And, incidentally, the correct pronunciation is:

ōˈjīv
Tomauto tomayto :D I found that out a couple days ago but thanks anyway. My main concern is what it actually means so when I'm talking about it that I use the correct terminology. From reading numerous articles about measuring where the bullet touches the lands and taking that spot and measuring to the base I was led to believe was called the ogive length. The length from the base to the tip of the bullet was called the OAL or COAL. The space between where the bullet's widest part and the rifling was called the "jump". All I am trying to figure out is the optimal length for a certain round for the best results. I think I have the concept down but am confused on the terminology. To me the curved portion of the bullet means nothing on how long to seat a bullet except for where it touches the lands and of course the actual flight characteristics(drag). Maybe someone can let me know the terminology of each of these:

Total length from base to tip of bullet =
Length from base to where the bullet touches the lands =

and any other ones I should know.

Thanks to all of you who have chimed in and helped me out.

You have it right in practicality. The ogive technically is the "roundly tapered end of a two-dimensional or three-dimensional object." So it is the whole curve but in regard to how it is used by us it is the point at which it touches the lands. So youre not really wrong in how we relate it to reloading, thats just a limited use of the word. But the seater stem doesnt go that far down/wide, its a bit before just due to how its required to fit in a die etc it cant be max width and still give consistent results.

Total length from base to tip of bullet = bullet length
Length from base to where the bullet touches the lands = You would need a barrel blank or something but if using a comparator we would just call that base to ogive. It would be understood.
