223 rem 80gr amax coal

check my coal in the new barrel for 80gr amax i get

2.433 coal touching lands
and
1.868 touching lands to ogive

i've been looking at oal's in the my reloading books and online (load data and such ) and come up with anywhere from 2.280 to 2.550 for a coal which to me is a wide spead so time to ask someone who has loaded these (80gr amax) with my coal of 2.433 and ogive of 1.868 would you try loading these or are they going to be seated down to far into the case . looking at these powders/ cases

lapua brass
varget 23gr start
imr 4064 22.0 gr start
aa2520 23.5 start
then work up from there i try to stay away from compressed loads as much as possible but with the longer head i'm sure it will be need at some point.

Looks like you may have a standard chamber or varient there of and not the longer throated Wylde or the 5.56 chamber ( longer freebore) Normally I see one of the formentioned chambers in a rifle ( weather bolt or AR) with the appropriate 1:8 or 1:7 twist barrels that will shoot the 80gr class bullets. If your rifle does not have a 1:8 twist it may not stabalize the 80gr Amax ( some exceptions) in the 223.
reguardless you will need to set the bullet into the case a little farther which will, as you mention may compress a load that Wylde chamber owners may be using. I think your on the right route with the lower powder charges. Just keep an eye on the pressure signs.

Of course you know this load wont fit into a 2.25" Magazine and is single load only.

I have a Bolt action with a MATCH chamber in it and a short Freebore. I shoot the 75gr Amax because of that. Its a single shot P dog gun and shoots them very well. Lucky me gets to load 20,000 rounds of 80gr class bullets for one of the Military rifle teams in there AR15 Service Rifles ( NRA CMP). Plus my own stuff.
