Dasher with 75Vmax

Guys

After having one Dasher built as a competition rifle, I could not resist another as a varmint rifle!

So, what are you guys using in the Dasher behind those 75Vmax, and what velocity are you getting.

The rifle started as a straight varmint rifle, but ended up being a semi comp rifle that will be used on varmints.

Lawton 7500 dual port action
Lawton 1:8 twist 26" barrel
Shehane ST-BR stock
Jewell trigger
Kelby style 20MOA base
Leupold 8.5-25X50 L/R scope.

Should be a nice little rifle for whacking varmints!

Cheers

Try 70 Nos. BT's. I love them in my 14 twist Dasher. If your 8 twist will shoot the 75 v-max the 70 BT should work well. My dasher 14 twist gives 3565 fps with 35.5gr v-135. 500 yd. prarie dogs no problem. The dust blocked my view of the hit but I heard the thump of the impact on one p d on a recent S. D. hunt.

Since recently owning Dashers, I will send my 12" twist 6BR to be rechambered to 6 Dasher.

I bought some 87 grain V-Max`s today and Lordy Mercy those look sweet.

Don't they though!

I've just loaded up a bunch for first tests on a new chuck riffle.

87's are extremely rude to prarie dogs. On a recent trip to S. D. Doc Stone shot 87 v-max's exclusively from a 12 twist Dasher. Almost every shot had acrobatics that would have made anyone's highlight reel. My 70 Nos. BT's anchored every one, but no where near the violence exhibited by the 87's. The 87's killed to 850 yd. which is as far as he tried a shot. His socpe lacked enough elevation to reach 1000, or he would have tried one out there with the 87's. He did get one at 1000 with a 105 vld berger with a 6 br.

With that 36grains of RE-15, was that hot in his rifle? If it is hot I will back off a little due to my twist rate.

If I can get 3450fps with a 1:8 at 26" I will be more than pleased! That will be awesome!

Doc Stone got the 1000 yd p.d. on the 5 th shot. Wind was very calm.

Option for an semi auto gun: The standard 6/250 has the exact same powder capacity as the 6 Dasher, you may want to give it some thought.

Hey Birdog,

What did the 105's do to the PD when it hit it? I am going out to Co. next week and will bring my 6BR AR along with my .204's and I will be shooting Berger 105's out of the 6BR. What can I expect from the 105's. Thanks.

Jimmy

joghotrod, The 105 berger, 107 smk match bullets stopped the p.d.'s very well but none of the acrobatics of the varmint bullets. The 105 a-max by hornady will really anchor one well. the 107 smk has a larger opening in the hollow point and does a # on the dogs but a berger stops in their tracks.
How do you like the 6mm AR? I am interested in them and may get one

Hi Birdog,

I replyed to your PM and thanks for the info. I loaded up 100 87 Gr. V-max's yesterday to take with me to CO. and I hope they shoot ok. I may not get to the range before I go.

My 6BR AR was built by Dtech if you need more info on it. I think his web site is www.dtechsuperstore.com.
