Dasher still the record holder at 1,000 yards?

Jim,

You're right. I set the record in the 2009 season, Jeff Green broke it in 2010, and it was broke again this year. I don't recall what Jeff was shooting though.

Wayne,

IBS Light Gun is 5 shot groups, 10 in Heavy Gun.

alf,
I stand corrected, So would that be nbrsa then alf? or is Williamsport even a little different? Congrats on being at the Top in 2009 that's great ;) I guess I better get a rules and discipline book out and do some reading.
Wayne.

Wayne, this was my first year for IBS 1K and even an old one eyed fat man shot a 6 agg. 4.3 at Va.1000 yd club. Maybe beginners luck, or maybe it was the Dasher..........jim

Jim,
Anyone who quotes John Wayne and can shoot a agg like that is a okay in my book ;D Hope you brake your personal record again this year. If I keep all the bullets on the 42"X 42" I will break my personal record, Dasher or not LOL
Wayne.

Wayne,
Williamsport, IBS and NBRSA are all a little different.
Both IBS and NBRSA shoot 5 shots in light gun and 10 in heavy gun.
All three have a 17# limit for Light Gun. Currently all 3 allow muzzle brakes in Light and Heavy gun class, IBS Heavy Gun muzzle brake rule will either be approved or thrown out at this years annual meeting based on member votes.
NBRSA allows mechanical rear rests in Light Gun class IBS does not.
NBRSA shoots a 3 target agg in each class at each match, IBS has the option to shoot 1,2 or 3 targets but the winner of the agg in each relay has to go to the shootoff yet.
Generally they are all pretty similar, generally the same equipment can be used.

Sheesh. And I don't even know what all the letters stand for. :( I assume BR stands for Bench Rest. Just curious, a 15.5 pound rifle with a brake would be in the heavy class? Guess I'll stick to informal steel shooting comps. ;)

James,
Thank you for the info, I could have searched it on google but I prefer info from you guy's doing it. To tell you the truth I have only shot on a competition level at the Deep Creek range in Missoula Montana and it goes by the original Pennsylvania Williamsport rules (I think) I do know we have three classes we shoot, 11 lb. 17 lb. and heavy gun, all 10 shot record rounds all at 1K, unlimited sighters in your allotted time. I have shot a F-class match there s well one time last year, if we had a local f-class range near where I live I think I would loose my wife for sure,...what a hoot. I have learned a lot in the last couple of years of competing and would go even if I couldn't shoot just to hang out with the guy's as they are a great bunch there, seems like no matter how many records they break they are still down to earth and go out of there way to help you along, I hope to learn the wind better and become a top contender myself so I can hopefully help someone starting out as much as all of the guy's at Deep Creek and on here has helped me out.
Wayne.

You can also go to the Williamsport Original Pennsylvania 1000 Yard benchrest Club results page and see what Mark King and his customers regularly do to the competition with their Dashers. The others are shooting just about anything imaginable.

Wayne, That wasn't a quote ,that was a fact. Have a good year.......jim
Jim,
I am sorry to here that,...the one eyed part. John Wayne played Rooster J Cogburn on the movie True Grit, one of his closing statements to little Matty Ross was referring to himself as a One eyed fat man, as far as the fat man part, I tend to lean towards the fat side myself,.....another quote from John Wayne .
Wayne.

Wayne, No big deal if you want to shoot you do what you have to. By the way Frank Weber Holds the light gun record with a 4.2 and a score of a 100 at Williamsport and guess what, it a Dasher........jim

You could shoot it in either Light or Heavy Gun Class, since muzzle brakes are allowed in both, I modified my earlier post to be easier to understand. I believe muzzle brakes have been allowed in Light Gun class since the beginning. Williamsport and IBS only recently added Brakes to Heavy gun class.
