Dasher still the record holder at 1,000 yards?

Quoting from the 6mm Dasher page here on 6mmBR.com:

"Effective out to 1000 yds, the Dasher holds the NBRSA 6-target 1000-yard world record Agg."

Is that still true - or is it history? I'd imagine it's still competitive at least.

Thanks, Guy

I cannot speak to the record, but the way you ask the question leads me to wonder what you believe might have overshadowed the Dasher so that it might be perceived as being no longer be competitive at 1000 yards. Is there some other cartridge out there that has risen to preeminence?

Robert

Have not looked it up, so I cant say if it still holds the record are not. BUT to the question if it is still competive with out a DOUDT.

The NBRSA 1000 yard 6 target light gun group agg record is currently held by Billy Copelin, 4.6xx" shot at Sacramento, CA in 2009 shooting a 6 Dasher.

That record had also been broken in 2008 By Glen Sterling, with a 5.30x" shot at Byers, CO also shooting a 6 Dasher.

Hope this answers your question.

Richard Schatz

Richard,
As I recall in the championship shoot in Misoula Montana this year your Dasher didn't do to bad,... I believe it won you a Barrel and got your picture taken with Don Neilson, Roger Hoppe, and a couple others, I think Don was shooting a 6.5X47 but you and Roger was shooting dashers, Oh yea Bud Williams was there with a dasher, not to mention the locals that all won scopes, actions, and barrels,..the Anderson Brothers, Finch, and Peterson, I think I won overall worst agg of the year with my 6*284,... I now have a Dasher I bought from Dennis after the July shoot, I hope to have it humming next year and look forward seeing you there again hopefully.
Wayne.

Thanks guys - I figured it was still pounding 'em in there, but hadn't paid a lot of attention to LR benchrest stuff lately and wasn't sure if it had been terribly over-shadowed by some other cartridge.

Regards, Guy

I think the dasher is to long range bench rest as the 6ppc is to short range bench rest.

In the 2009 season, I set the IBS 6 target group record with a 4.2xx" agg. with a 6 Dasher.

Sorry for tootin' my own horn..........

Alf,
I wouldn't say that was tooting your own horn, it is a awesome accomplishment and something to be very proud of. I remember the first time I got 10 in 10" I was so happy :D I personally haven't shot under 8" in competition yet, I have shot under 5" at my range when I could choose the conditions (daybreak) and a 99 is my best score so far. So guy's like you that regularly shoot under 5" and 100 scores have really accomplished something as far as I am concerned. I will be happy with 10 in 5",....i'm working on it :)

to the OP.....you are hearing it strait from the horse's mouth when Richard Schatz tells it.....and he has held/broke several records and won a bunch of events with his lil' Dasher !!!.....if he shows up at a National or local event ,,,he IS the man to beat....Happy NEW year to all....Roger

Richard Schatz held the NBRSA 6 Target agg from 2004 to 2008 with a 6.125" agg.
In 2008 Richard Schatz broke the 6 target agg record with a 5.370" agg.
Glen Sterling Jr. however slightly outdid Richard with a 5.327" agg at the same match. Taking away the record from Richard.

All were shot with a 6mm Dasher.

James

So if a guy wanted to shoot itty-bitty groups at long range a Dasher would still make the short list of cartridges. Understatement...

Dang... Impressive stuff guys. THANKS for the feedback. I'm actually one of those sling-happy prone shooters... Looking for an edge. If I go to the Dasher or something my buddies will think I've totally flipped out - I've been running a .308 for a couple of decades.

Regards, Guy

Come to the Dark Side, Guy. We're all your friends here.

Dasher is the 'Real Deal'
Google Richard Schatz and read how he had the first Dasher
barrel. He went to I believe the Byers 1,000 yd match and they
laughed at him when he showed up with the 'pip squeak' 6mm to
shoot against the 6.5's and big Magnum boomers. He
cleaned their plows and broke a 2 or 3 records that day.

I have new shooters over to my place all the time to make
the 1000 yard club on a metal ground hog named Ole Chuckie.
I zero my DASHER for them and some of the guys
hit Chuckie on the first shot.

Birdog,
Just about anything you shoot would be the real deal no matter if it were a dasher or whatever,LOL
1000 yards is the warm up range for you and old Voldoc02 ;D ;D
Wayne.

P.S I believe anything Richard would be shooting would be someone and something to reckon with also ;) I hope to be there someday,......I am working on it anyway ;)

Schatz record breaking debut of the 6 mm Dasher
A must read for a anyone contemplating a Dasher
I had dinner with Richard after the '07 nationals at
Ft. Pierre, N. D. You will not find a nicer fellow.

As far as I know Leo Anderson holds the 1000 yard 6agg world record, I shot on the bench to the left of him all year and was hoping some of his luck and skill would rub off,....(it didn't) He is a GREAT shooter and a down to earth GREAT guy, his Brother is no slouch behind a rifle either. Leo holds this with a 99.5 6 agg and a 96.8 10 agg if we hadn't of had 50 plus MPH winds in the May shoot his 10 agg would have been much better. Between Leo and his Friend Tom Mousel they have broke several world records on the Deep Creek range in Missoula Montana.
Wayne.

Oh did I mention he did it with a 6 Dasher ;D

Accordingly to the WWW Matt Kline holds the smallest 1000 yard group with his heavy gun chambered in .300wsm,.....2.815" 100 4X 10 shots.

Wayne, this record was for light gun IBS the old record was I think 4.06 and he did better it for this year, 3.9 for the 6 agg......jim
