Dasher Sizing and Dies

Hi guys, new here...first post.

I've searched a little on the forum to try and find some info on dies for the 6 Dasher. I have one being built right now, just trying to figure out how or what the "norm" is for sizing.

I have a Forster Ultra Seeder coming.

The big question is......what sizing die is the way to go? I cannot, for the life of me, find a neck sizer. I see redding makes the type S but should I be full length sizing each reload? I've had good luck on a few other guns doing that.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

xswanted,

Welcome.

You will likely get opinions both way`s...Some full length size every time, some neck size only until they get a case that is hard to chamber.

Have you looked at 6mmar.com???

Robert sells Redding dies for the 6 Dasher.

Wilson also has dies,as well as many other manufacturers, if you want to get really fancy you could call Neil Jones and get dies from him.

After you get fireformed brass for your chamber send 2 pieces of
fired brass to Lynwood Harrell and he will send you a full length
die customized to your chamber. Best die I have found.
Your brass will last longer if you bump it each time with the full
length. Neck sizing allow the brass to stretch too much before
you squeeze it back to spec.

I got my 6 Dasher FL sizing die from John Whidden and could not be happier here is the link

All right guys thanks for the info.

I currently have a 22-250 Ackley that I am using the cutom redding dies for.

I use the bump sizer, neck size then seat the bullets each time I reload, and that is seeming to produce the best accuracy.
I've shot a number of 5 shot groups in the 4" range at 600 yards with this setup, good for a hunting rifle by my standards!!

SO....

Sounds like some are full length sizing each time. I've shot some benchrest, my Dad is a long time shooter. He always has said only use your neck sizer for bench.

I like the idea of the type S redding die for the Dasher. Will using this die hinder accuracy or should I be good to go with that?

+1 Harrells

The advantage to the Harrells die is they measure the fired cases and provide you with the best fitting die for minimal working of brass.

If you are just going for hunting accuracy and not match accuracy you will be fine with the Redding. A custom die will provide maximum accuracy for match loads IMHO. Good Luck and welcome.

You can neck size only with a F/L die if you buy a set of Skip Otto's die shims from Sinclair. I agree with the recommendations of the Harrell's F/L bushing die; I have three of those and the Reddings as well. I prefer the Harrell's.
