Dasher necks turned too deep

I just finished my 6 Dasher with 269 neck. I turned the necks down on 300 cases to 12 thou and then realised that I turned the entire 6 BR neck lenght and not only the shorter portion for the Dasher. I live in Namibia and to get hold of any components is a very lenghty and expensive enterprise. Will the turned part of the neck, which will now become part of the Dasher shoulder, split when fire forming, taking into consideration that the neckhas only been turned for a 269 chamber) or should I rather try to sell the cases to a straight 6 BR shooter? I will appreciate any advise.

Hi Chris you will have a few cases split but that will happen with unturned cases any way. Use a heavy neck tensian and jamm the projectiles into the lands a good fireforming load is 30gr Varget with a 105-107gr projectile and you will be good to go.

I turn to within about 1/16" of the shoulder. Once they are formed the turned part goes about halfway down the shoulder. That way you don't have a donut. You will be fine. I turn to .010 for a .266 neck because I like .003 clearance minimum. Matt

Matt, what is your thought process to prep your Dasher necks to .003+ clearance vs a more traditional .002?

I tested at 1000 with a real good shooting Dasher and went from .001 to .004 clearance and saw little difference in groups. I believe it is better to stay on the safe side for a case not turned guite right or a carbon buildup. I actually saw some guns improve with a tiny bit more clearance. Not my gun, but my buddies and some others. Matt

yeah zombie i trim my 6BR cases all way down to shoulder then i fire formed jammed 100 cases and did another 100 by hydro formed for my 6BRX and only lost 1 case and had no problems .. best thing now is i wont get the donuts happening.. reloaded these cases 5-6 times now
i also run .003 neck clearance
